Mountain Home is a city located in Elmore County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,143. As of the census of 2000, there are 11,143 people, 4,337 households, and 2,957 families residing in the city. The population density is 830.6/km² (2,150.8/mi²). There are 4,738 housing units at an average density of 353.2/km² (914.5/mi²). There are 4,337 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% are non-families. 26.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.11. In the city the population is spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 18.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 101.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.5 males.
